October 11th, 2009

Well it has been a week since I arrived here in Penang and I am having a good time.  Met two Mexicans in the hotel J how fun is that. I remember that Graciela told me that her sister in Italy would meet all the Mexican’s I used to think that was funny and now I know it is very funny we have antennas to communicate to one another or better yet if you hear them talk you will know if they are Mexicans.  Well moving on to the next adventure this weekend I was able to go visit a few sites (with Susan’s help she was kind to drive me around). Went to see the following sites: Penang Hill- spectacular view and great lunch
Kek Lok Si Temple- Spectacular view of the island
Spice Garden- lots of species, this was a great tour the like always I learned a lot
Butterfly Farm- Amazing this was awesome lots of butterflies
Fort Cornwallis- Interesting
drove thru Little India- uhm need to go back to go for a walk
I must admit I was super tired by the time we headed back to the hotel, we skipped the fruit farm because I was exhausted from the day before.  To give you an idea of the day before those who have been to Oaxaca or Puerto Vallarta know is humid but here is 4 times more humid we walk in the temple to reach one of the highest floor and I was soaking wet by the time we reached the top part that had an spectacular view. It was all worth it, but I was soaked but do not expect me to lose weight I keep on eating like a pig and those of you that know me know how much I eat . I know I gained at least 5 lbs.  Either way I have been blessed that Susan has actually taken some of her personal time to show me Penang. I think this has given me a very great experience to touring, eating local food, learning about the culture etc… Well I will have 5 more weeks left of this assignment. I will be posting the pictures shortly.

October 5th, 2009

All,

You will be glad to know that I got here in one piece after 28hrs of traveling and some layovers :-)   I had to moved from my previous so called suite.. it was an apartment complex in a residential area. No food, no restaurant, no toilet paper,, I can go on but the thing is I moved to a hotel that has all of the amenities I can now survive :-) with an excellent GYM not that I will use it but at least is an option…  an Awesome SPA I hope to use it the rate is a bit steep but I will see what I can do ;-) Anyways the first two days at work have been easy not much work which is funny because I came to help with the work load :-) any how I wanted to share the fact that today I ate something that taste like mole (mole negro como el de Oaxaca), and it had rice (taste like Spanish rice) and an egg it was so delicious the combination.  I wanted to share it. I usually share pictures but this time is all about foodJ. I will be going this Saturday to do some tourist site scene. I also have some pictures that I need to post from the view of my two day apartmentJ.  I will also share the pictures from my now permanent room. The view is impressive after all I am in an island I do not see the typhoon thank God, but it has been raining because of the typhoon.  I can hear the rain and is unusual but I am close to a window do not panic I have not become the VP yet.  But it is nice to actually see the cloudy day mixed with rain no sun wait it looks familiar ah yes Oregon :-0 except is warm. Anyways I need to get back to work ;-) I will be posting pictures soon. Maritza
